Follow the Nile from Cairo to Aswan and Luxor on this 7-day eclipse adventure. On 2 August 2027, one of the longest total solar eclipses of the century sweeps across southern Egypt, with the path of totality passing directly over Luxor and offering up to roughly six minutes of daytime darkness — a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle above the land of the pharaohs. View the eclipse from the Nile Valley and explore Philae, Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and a scenic Nile cruise.
Your Elevana Tours representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, assists with the arrival formalities and transfers you privately to your hotel. The evening is free to rest and settle in after your journey. An optional Nile dinner cruise can be arranged for your first night. Overnight in Cairo.
After breakfast you meet your Egyptologist guide for a full day exploring the Giza Plateau. You marvel at the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the enigmatic Sphinx and the granite Valley Temple, with time for memorable photographs. In the afternoon you visit the museum to see the royal treasures and statues that reveal the splendour of the pharaohs. Overnight in Cairo.
You transfer to the airport for a flight south to Aswan, the Nile’s most serene and scenic city. You visit the graceful island Temple of Philae, sacred to the goddess Isis, and the mighty Aswan High Dam that transformed modern Egypt. You then embark your deluxe Nile cruiser and settle in for the voyage downstream. Overnight on board in Aswan.
As your cruiser sails north, you relax on deck and take in the ever-changing riverbank scenery. You go ashore to explore the unusual double Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris, dramatically set on a bend of the Nile. Further along you visit the superbly preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu, entered through its colossal pylon gateway. Overnight on board.
Your cruiser arrives in Luxor, where you tour the great East Bank temples of Karnak and Luxor and the royal tombs of the West Bank. In the afternoon your guide leads you to a prime open viewing site chosen for its clear view of the sky. With certified solar-safe glasses provided, you witness the magnificent total solar eclipse over Luxor — up to roughly six minutes of daytime darkness on 2 August 2027. Overnight on board.
After breakfast you disembark and transfer to Luxor airport for your flight back to Cairo. You are met and transferred to your hotel, with the afternoon free to relax or shop in the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Overnight in Cairo.
Enjoy a final breakfast before your Elevana Tours representative transfers you to Cairo International Airport for your onward flight, concluding a journey along the Nile crowned by a total solar eclipse.
